What is a domain name?
A domain name is a unique name used to identify a website or Internet resource. It is like the address of a house, but for a website. Domain names consist of a name and an extension, such as .com, .org, .nl, .be, .eu, and so on.
Domain names are used to make internet addresses easier to remember and use than numeric IP addresses. Each domain name is unique and can only be assigned to one website. For example, if you go to "google.com", your request will be converted into the IP address of the Google server, allowing you to reach the website.
What can a domain name consist of?
In general, a domain name may consist of letters (a-z), numbers (0-9) and the hyphen (-). A domain name may not contain spaces or special characters, such as @, !, #, $, and so on. The length of a domain name can vary, but most top-level domain extensions have a maximum length of 63 characters.
It is important to remember that your domain name must comply with the rules and guidelines of the organisation responsible for managing that particular TLD (Top Level Domain) extension. For example, some TLDs have restrictions on the use of certain words or names, or require the registrant to live in a certain region or country.
When registering a domain name, it is important to make sure the name is representative of your business or website and easy to remember for your target audience.
